MOUNTAIN OLIVE HARVEST
The peace and joy that comes from harvesting this Mediterranean fruit in good company
Service Description
Montuna olives... we call them that because they come from the mountains, which are full of charming terraces, secret spots, lots of forests, and amazing views... and every few steps, there's an olive tree that's loaded with fruit this year, ready to give us its juicy fruit and, if we extract the oil, its tasty golden liquid. We will be waiting for you with all the necessary tools for the task: combs, cloths, boxes, baskets, and a saw or perhaps a chainsaw if it is necessary to prune any branches to give the tree more light for another year and to harvest its fruit more easily from below. Some of you can bring new branches to those who are combing, others can climb a little to comb from above, others can comb from below, others can shake the tree or hit the branches with a stick so that more fruit falls onto the cloth, others can remove the branches that are already empty of olives and make a pile with them to jump on to compact it, others can carry a box, others can prepare the cloths under another tree. All this is done carefully so as not to step on them, and always singing, laughing, and enjoying ourselves together. It's such a beautiful thing to do as a family. The way we do it, without vacuum machines, but by hand, choosing them one by one, separating the damaged ones and leaving only an impeccable harvest, is not very profitable economically speaking. We laughed during the last harvest, calling it “olive therapy” because it would be much cheaper to buy a bottle of excellent oil than to prepare our own from scratch... But we don't mind. We enjoy doing it so much, it tastes so good, and we feel so connected to life throughout the whole process that it's worth it. And we love sharing it with you. We will give each of you a box that you can either take home, if you are really going to prepare them—it would be a shame if they went to waste—or exchange here for sweetened olives and a little oil that we have been saving since last harvest like gold dust so that you can take it home. If you want to learn how to sweeten them, which is the name given to the preparation process for eating them as an appetizer, remember to book the experience for this as well, which will take place after the siesta. Come dressed warmly, especially your feet! We look forward to seeing you!
